Imagine you are a fairy in this scene, gossiping about Titania’s behaviour.
Write a conversation with a fellow fairy and then role play this conversation. You may:

• Decide what gestures you might use.

• Think about the sort of voices you might make.

Imagine you are the Wizard of Oz writing a letter to Puck.
You fondly recall that you gave the Scarecrow brains, the Tin Woodman a heart, and the Cowardly Lion courage. Of course, they already possessed these qualities, but did not realise it.

In writing your letter, you pay tribute to Puck who inspired you by making Bottom’s appearance match his real personality. Like your friends, Bottom was unaware of his true character.

Thank Puck and explain how you followed his example.

You are a cartoonist who has been commissioned to produce a comic book version of A Midsummer Nights Dream.
Your book must use simplified language, but you want to keep it as faithful to Shakespeare’s intent as much as possible.

Create the cartoon panels that you would use to illustrate Titania’s awakening and discovery of Bottom. Provide detailed dialogue for the characters.

Imagine you are an apprentice to a powerful magician.
You have just learned how to cast spells. One of the models you have studied/seen is Puck joyously turning Bottom into a creature with the head of an ass.

If you had the power to turn people into creatures, animals or plants, how would you use it? Decide whom you would like to have under your spell and what kind of spell it should be.

Compose your spell in verse and then write the script for the scenario (with its comical consequences) that takes place when the spell first takes effect.
